Larry's Story

“I create openings for breakthrough conversations in ways that nudge the world toward more justice, love, and sustainability.”

I create openings for breakthrough conversations so that the world gets nudged toward more love, justice, and sustainability.

That purpose traces back to my childhood in a Southern California farming community in the 1960s and 70s. In schools marked by gang violence, I learned very quickly how to read social cues, understand power, and build alliances. Each morning on the bus ride to school, I passed fields where farmworkers gathered under the flag of their movement – a daily reminder that when people unite around what matters, change happens.

Those experiences shaped the questions that guide my work: What connects us? What moves us? How do people with different interests find common ground in service of something larger than themselves?

For more than 30 years, I’ve helped leaders answer those questions in high-stakes settings. As the founder of Blue Wing Consulting, I facilitate pivotal meetings and advise executives who want authentic engagement and real collaboration woven into the fabric of their organizations.

My work has taken me from corporate boardrooms, to an industrial disaster site in Washington State, a toy-making workshop on Skid Row in Los Angeles, and a solar-powered chocolate factory in the Ecuadorian Amazon. I’ve partnered with organizations ranging from global brands like Nike and Starbucks, to universities, nonprofits, government agencies, and fast-growing companies navigating complexity and change.

While a practitioner at heart, I have written two books: Consensus Through Conversation, and Standing in the Fire, which have been published in the USA, Brazil, China, Japan, and Taiwan. Trained as a social psychologist with a MBA from UCLA Anderson, I understand both the human and strategic concerns of my clients.

My wife and I divide our time between Boulder, Colorado and Guanajuato, Mexico
